Financial access: GlobalEd Connect unlocks potential, uploading an end-to-end support for Cameroonian Students

 

►►Choosing the programme, securing admissions, finding healthy financial structures and employability outcome are the four elements required to secure the students future and access to top public colleges abroad and Canada in Particular. This was made available during the Yaoundé International Admission and Funding Accelerator meeting, which took place on February 4th 2026 in a hall at the Djeuga Palace Hotel.

The meeting gathered over 300 students across Yaoundé as well as other regions including Buea. The one-day meeting had as aim to guide students and parents on admission and funding process into different Canadian colleges in partnership with the platform Passage.

Who is eligible?

Eligible candidates according to organisers could be waived from admission fees, based strictly on academic performance. The accelerator day has given the opportunity for qualified students to receive funding covering up to 70 % of tuition and living expenses, easing one of the primary barriers to studying abroad. Ashley Bossom is a master’s student in Public Health. According to her, the main reason she attended the conference is based on the programme funding options.  “I’m going to be pursuing a post-graduate programme in palliative care, which has to do with the wellbeing of the old-aged. This will create employment for me and enable me to do what I like the most, that is caring for people.”

Unlike her, Julio Kamche has equally attended the GlobalEd Connect meeting in partnership with the platform Passage to benefit from the opportunities presented to them. “I came because I aspire to pursue my studies in Canada regarding labour shortage in healthcare domain, which is the field I have chosen.”

Organisers emphasized that, Passage provides students with an end-to-end guidance counselling, employability support and guarantee the students with a long-term success.

The choice of a programme

According to the Vice-President, Khaled Elhennawy, Passage Canada helps talents to unlock their potentials through education within top Canadian institutions. The colleges will provide them with employability and growth alignment in Canada. “Part of what we are providing them today, is working with some of our local partners, to guide them through the programmes that has very high employability outcomes within Canada in order for them to select the programmes that align with their skills. That’s why we are here today to help Cameroonian talents find their academic future in Canadian institutions”. The particularity of the platform according to the Vice-President is that “the passage funding options available for students is to assist them complete the tuition fees while they can study and work at the same time.”

Funding options available

The platform offers different forms of funding depending on the chosen programme. Some funding options offered by Passage Canada, includes; funding option covering tuition, other options covering tuition and living expenses. The Vice-President, Khaled Elhennawy added that, “the payment programme depends on the type of programme chosen by the student but it’s actually being paid on a long-term within 4 to 7 years.”

Through-out the day, students were being attended to by different colleges partners present at the venue. The meeting registered over 11 Canadian colleges, briefing students on the choice of a field including Skilled Trades, Healthcare and STEM. This initiative is a gateway to global connection, shaping international studies and building cooperation between Cameroon and Canada.
