►►Jean-Baptiste Bisseck has been officially dismissed as head coach of Cameroon’s women’s national football team following their failure to qualify for the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations. The decision comes amid mounting criticism over his leadership and tactical approach. This has been made public in a communique signed by the president of the Cameroon Football Federation, Samuel Eto’o Fils on october 28th 2025.
Afrique54.net »Appointed in August 2024 after the Women’s World Cup, Bisseck was tasked with reviving the Lionesses and guiding them back to continental prominence. However, his tenure was marred by two failed AFCON qualification campaigns, first against Kenya in 2024, and now against Algeria in 2025.
His record at the helm includes 10 matches, 3 wins, 6 losses, 1 draw, 6 goals scored and 9 goals conceded.
Analysts had long questioned his suitability for the women’s game. “He’s a good coach, but not for women’s teams. It’s a different world,” “We’ve missed two AFCONs under his watch. That’s too much.”
The final blow came after Cameroon’s 0-1 home defeat to Algeria, which confirmed their elimination. Fecafoot acted swiftly, announcing Bisseck’s dismissal less than 24 hours after the match.
While Bisseck’s coaching credentials remain respected in domestic football, many believe his style and decisions failed to resonate with the women’s squad. His departure opens the door for a new chapter in Cameroonian women’s football, one that demands fresh vision, specialized expertise, and a commitment to rebuilding.
