Cameroonian Diaspora and politics : These compatriots that Yaounde neglects

Cameroonian Diaspora and politics : These compatriots that Yaounde neglects

► Cedrick Penda Moukoko, president of the Cameroon Speaking Diaspora Association in Kenya and an activist of the Cameroonian People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM), has drawn the attention of the Yaounde authorities to the neglect of the Cameroonian Diaspora in Africa which should be involved in the political development of the country.

Afrique54.net – Cedric Penda Moukoko, a fervent CPDM activist in Nairobi, has always worked to restore the image of Paul Biya’s party among Cameroonians living in East Africa. But he wonders about the obvious neglect of the political elite in Yaounde on the participation and political involvement of its diaspora in the continent.

To this end, he deplores the total absence of the Diaspora in the parliament. But also, a notorious absence of the Diaspora in Africa during consultations of national interest. This was the case during the Grand National Dialogue held from 30 September to 4 October 2019 in Yaoundé.

« Mr. Secretary General, we invite you to Nairobi

In a post published on his Facebook account, Cedric Penda Moukoko congratulated the national tour of the Secretary General of the ruling party Jean NKUETE. He will also invite the Secretary General of the RDPC to go and meet the militants and sympathizers in Kenya.

Indeed, as the tour of the Secretary General of the RDPC in the regional delegations of the central committee comes to an end, Jean Nkuete is invited to Nairobi. « Mr. Secretary General, we invite you to Nairobi where the CPDM militants are waiting for you with open arms ». This request is beyond an « expression of a real political need » as Cedrick Penda Moukoko says, is an invitation to the Secretary General of the Central Committee to take more into account the militants of the Diaspora of the party of the burning torch.

« This working visit to the Adamaoua, East, West and South regions is welcome at a time when many militants are facing the temptation to abandon ship due to internal frustrations and the party’s indifference to the sacrifices of some zealous militants at the grassroots, » he added.

The President of the Cameroon Speaking Diaspora Association in Kenya admits that « The Western step was well calculated and has remotivated the militants on that side, who face a tough opposition every day. The visit of the Secretary General made it possible to realise how solid the party still is in this part of Cameroon, a region much coveted by the opposition, since the last presidential election in Cameroon.

« We are a sizeable number of CPDM militants and sympathisers in Nairobi ready to receive the Secretary General, the great comrade Jean NKuete on a visit to Kenya. We want to participate in the political process of Cameroon and exercise our right to vote as required by the constitution of our country, » he concluded.
