18 Sudanese civilians killed in attack on border with Chad

Chadian armed groups killed 18 Sudanese civilians and stole 220 camels in an attack in a border village in Sudan’s West Darfur State on Thursday, said Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council on Friday.

 

At the funeral of the victims, Deputy Chairman of Sudan’s transitional Sovereign Council Mohamed Hamdan Daqlu urged the citizens to exercise restraint to enable the state to take necessary measures to preserve their rights.

« We will decisively address the issue of these borders and this chaos as we did with the issue of this state. We will not be tolerant with any person, whoever he is. »

He said that an emergency meeting would be held for the security and defense committee in Khartoum to address the border issue.

« These borders are the responsibility of the joint forces and no one else. Therefore, we are here to protect our country. We have asked the chairman of the Sovereign Council to convene an urgent meeting for the security and defense committee in Khartoum. This meeting will adopt decisive decisions regarding the borders. »

Sudan and Chad share a border that stretches for 1,350 km.
